After the tallest tricolor, now statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be installed near the Line of Control in Teetwal and Karnah sectors in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The work for the installation of the two statues will begin next month and the soil will be taken from Shivaji’s forts for Bhoomi Pujan by the NGO planning it.
On 14 February 2023, Amhi Punekar (V Punekar) NGO announced that it would install a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj near the India-Pakistan Line of Control. The motive behind this is to ensure that the soldiers fighting against the enemies get inspired by the ideals and moral values of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj after seeing the statue.
‘Kupwara administration has given permission’
To install these statues, Amhi Punekar NGO has taken this initiative along with Abhayraj Shirole, head of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Atkepar Memorial Committee. Statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be installed at two places on the Line of Control at Keran and Tangdhar.
The founder of the NGO said that he has taken the permission of the Kupwara district administration in this regard. Jadhav said that the Bhoomi Poojan for the installation of the statue would be done by the end of March. The soil of Raigarh, Torana, Shivneri, Rajgarh and Pratapgarh forts, sanctified by Shivrai’s footprints, will be brought to Kashmir for Bhoomi Pujan.
Why is the statue being installed?
NGO founder Hemant Jadhav said that Shivaji Maharaj had driven away the enemies with his strategy and courage. He said that various countries around the world follow his techniques of guerrilla warfare. A statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is being installed on the India-Pakistan border to inspire Indian soldiers on the border through Shivrai’s ideals and statue. Abhayraj Shirole said.
The Maratha Regiment had installed two statues
It is noteworthy that in January 2022, two statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were installed in Jammu and Kashmir by the Maratha Regiment. One of these statues has been installed near the LoC at an altitude of 14800 feet above sea level. Now, two more statues will be constructed by Pune-based NGOs.
