जंतर-मंतर को विरोध स्थल के रूप में निरस्त किए जाने पर एआईएमआईएम अध्यक्ष और सांसद असदुद्दीन ओवैसी ने कहा, “सवाल यह है कि सरकार विरोध प्रदर्शन करने वालों के खिलाफ क्यों है? सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने विरोध करने के अधिकार का समर्थन किया है, इसलिए जब तक हिंसा नहीं होती, विरोध प्रदर्शन की अनुमति होनी चाहिए. इन लड़कों को आज गिरफ्तार किया गया है, लेकिन इन्हें गिरफ्तार करना बिल्कुल भी जरूरी नहीं था. इन्हें आसानी से जमानत दी जा सकती थी या नोटिस जारी किया जा सकता था क्योंकि एक लड़के को रिहा कर दिया गया है; बाकी दो को न्यायिक हिरासत में क्यों भेजा गया है?”
