Change in 92 years of tradition
The Modi government had made a major change in the budget in the year 2017. Before the year 2017, two types of budgets were presented in the country. First Rail Budget and second General Budget. In the general budget, the government used to give information about many important announcements related to education, health, defense and economic development of the country. On the other hand, the announcements related to the Railways were presented separately in the Railway Budget Parliament.
The Railway Budget was first presented in the year 1924 by the British Government. Since then, the tradition of presenting the Railway Budget (Railway Budget 2023) every year a day before the General Budget was going on, which the Modi government has changed in the year 2017. In 2017, the government merged the general budget and the railway budget, and after that only one budget was presented from the year 2017.
