SBI chairman said – Bank has given loan of Rs 27,000 crore to Adani group


SBI New Update: The country’s largest government bank State Bank of India has issued a clarification on the loan given to the Adani group. SBI Chairman State Bank of India Dinesh Khara said that Adani Group’s exposure to SBI is Rs 27,000 crore, which is only 0.8 to 0.9 per cent of its total loan book.

Dinesh Khara said that, we have given loans for Tangible Assets of Adani Group and there is sufficient cash collection. He said that he is capable of paying the dues of the bank loan. He said that only 0.8 to 0.9 percent of SBI’s total loan book has been given to the Adani group. The chairman of SBI has given this information in the press conference held regarding the announcement of quarterly results.

SBI chairman said that he does not think that Adani group will have any problem in repaying the loan. He told that SBI has not given any loan in exchange of shares. Therefore, the prices of shares will not have any effect on the loan given. He said that SBI has given loan to the group for assets that are generating cash and they have an excellent record in repaying the loan. Dinesh Khara said that for the time being there is nothing to worry about and hence SBI has not discussed it with the group.

Rs 14,205 crore profit

Earlier, SBI announced the results for the October to December quarter of the financial year 2022-23, which has been excellent. SBI has declared a profit of Rs 14,205 crore in this quarter, which is 69 percent more than the same quarter last year. So far this is the biggest profit declared by any bank in a quarter. There has been a jump of 24 percent in the bank’s net interest income and it has increased to Rs 38,068 crore.
