Solar Pump Subsidy Scheme: Most of the land of Rajasthan was once unirrigated and barren, but today solar power irrigation pumps have spread greenery in the fields. The farmers of the state no longer have to depend on the supply of electricity for irrigation, but are getting good profits by growing their own electricity along with irrigation. Rajasthan has become the first solar state in the country by installing maximum number of solar pumps. About 59,000 farmers in the state have installed solar irrigation pumps in their fields with the help of the government, for which 60 percent subsidy is also being given.
Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana has also played an important role in making solar irrigation pump available to every farmer of the state. The current situation is that in most of the areas now electricity connection and dependence of farmers on diesel powered plants or other alternative resources has reduced considerably.
Farmers’ income increased with yield
In most areas of Rajasthan, fields and barns are blooming with greenery. Solar pump has reduced the cost of irrigation and has also helped in getting the right production on time. Many farmers could not do farming on unirrigated-barren land, today they are also seeing an increase in their income.
Rajasthan became a model state
Today, by promoting the use of solar energy in agriculture and setting up maximum number of solar irrigation pumps, Rajasthan has attained the status of a model state. In the 4 years of the solar power project being run in the state, a grant of Rs 982.95 crore has been given to 59,502 farmers for setting up solar irrigation pump plants. In the agriculture budget for the year 2022-23, the Gehlot government has given Rs 1 lakh in 2 years. A grant of Rs 500 crore has been proposed to farmers for setting up solar irrigation pump plants.
Farming cost halved

These farmers told that after the installation of 7.5 HP solar irrigation pump, the crop is irrigated on time and the dependence on electricity and diesel has ended. Earlier electricity had to be arranged for irrigation of crops. Due to this electricity bill of 3,000 to 7,000 rupees was coming every month, but now electricity bill is not generated and good income is also being generated by generating electricity from solar plant.
