Iranian Cleric on Anti Hijab Protest: The controversy regarding the hijab in Iran is not taking its name. Anti Hijab Protests are being held in the country for the last one year. Violent protests are still taking place across the country since the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody last year. Till now a large number of people have lost their lives. Meanwhile, again an Iranian Maulvi has given a very strange statement regarding Hijab.
Controversial statement of Iranian cleric
According to the report of Iran International, the Iranian cleric has told the authorities to ensure that every woman wears the hijab, before they start roaming ‘without clothes’ in the summer. The name of the Maulvi is being told as Mohammad Nabi Musavifard. The cleric says that the government should not back down in implementing the Hijab law. The cleric said, “We have to protect our religious values, even if we have to go to court several times.”
‘Warn women against not wearing hijab’
According to the report, Maulvi Mohammad Nabi further said that social workers should not work for people without hijab. He said, “People should warn women who wear hijab wrongly and should not remain indifferent. Otherwise, she will come out on the streets without clothes in the summer.
Iranian imam linked hijab to rain crisis
Last month, an Iranian imam blamed women who did not wear hijabs for the lack of rain in the country. The Imam had given a strange statement that water crisis has arisen due to not wearing hijab. Mohammad-Mehdi Hosseini Hamdani, a close aide of Iran’s supreme leader, said women had caused a nationwide rain shortage by flouting hijab rules. He also demanded punishment for women who do not wear hijab.
Hundreds have lost their lives in violent protests
Recently, the Human Rights Group HRANA had said that till Friday (February 10), 528 protesters had lost their lives, including 71 minors. Along with this, 70 government security forces were also killed. According to the report, 19,763 protesters have been arrested. Demonstrations are taking place in Iran against the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. She was arrested for wearing hijab improperly. Many women openly flouted orthodox rules and took off their hijabs in support of Amini.
