Earthquake can wreak havoc in Turkey’s Istanbul? Scientists warned the government

Turkey Earthquake: There was a devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria on 6 February. The intensity of this earthquake was measured at 7.8. So far 41 thousand people have died in this earthquake. After the earthquake, the rescue work is going on on a war footing. So far thousands of people have been saved. In the earthquake in the south-east of Turkey, millions of people became homeless in one stroke.

Recently, after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, scientists have estimated that by the year 2030, there is a possibility of an earthquake in Istanbul, one of Turkey’s largest cities. Right now there are 16 million (16 million) people living in Istanbul, which is expected to increase to 2 million (20 million) in the year 2030.

carnage can be avoided

Istanbul (Istanbul) is located on the northern side of Turkey, which is present on the fault line and is a completely packed area. A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck the eastern outskirts of Istanbul in 1999, killing more than 17,000 people and since then Istanbul’s population has almost doubled.

Murat Güne, a Turkish scholar, said the massacre could have been avoided if the government had the will to move people from the dilapidated buildings that fill the city’s shanty towns. Murat Güne said that recently new buildings have been built in Istanbul, which are strong enough to withstand major tremors. He said that procrastination can spell doom.

7.5 magnitude earthquake expected

Murat Güne told the news agency AFP that a major earthquake of up to 7.5 magnitude is expected in Istanbul. Such an earthquake could kill hundreds of thousands of people, while estimates of the number of buildings that would completely collapse or be severely damaged range from 50,000 to 200,000. Most of the buildings in Istanbul are squatter style and are not earthquake resistant. There is every possibility of their falling even after a minor earthquake. And the recent earthquake has killed more than 38,000 people in southeastern Turkey and about 3,700 in neighboring Syria.
