NASA is streaming live coverage┬аas two astronauts prepare for a spacewalk outside the International Space Station. The spacewalk is scheduled to begin at approximately┬а8:35┬аa.m. EDT and last about six and a half hours. Watch online at: https://www.nasa.gov/live
NASA astronaut┬аAnil Menon┬аand ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut┬аSophie Adenot┬аwill step outside the stationтАЩs Quest airlock to continue┬аthe installation of┬аa replacement┬аSpaceтАСtoтАСGround┬аantenna. The antenna is┬аa critical link that enables┬аhighтАСspeed┬аdata transmission between┬аNASAтАЩs┬аMission Control┬аCenter in┬аHouston and the┬аspace station.┬а
During a 6тАСhour, 23тАСminute spacewalk on┬аAug. 18, Menon and Adenot removed a failed┬аSpaceтАСtoтАСGround┬аantenna and secured it to the stationтАЩs truss structure. The astronauts needed more time than expected to disconnect electrical cables and loosen bolts, delaying installation of the replacement antenna.┬а┬а
Menon will serve as crew member 1 in the suit with red stripes, while Adenot will serve as crew member 2 in an unmarked suit.
U.S. spacewalk 98 will be MenonтАЩs third and AdenotтАЩs second.┬аIt also┬аwill be the 283rd┬аspacewalk┬аin support of space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.┬а
