Supreme Court Collegium: The Central Government on Saturday approved the appointment of 5 judges for the Supreme Court. The appointed judges will take oath on February 6. After taking oath of five judges, the number of judges in the Supreme Court will be 32. The names of these judges were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on December 13 last year.
Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court Justice Pankaj Mittal, Chief Justice of Patna High Court Justice Sanjay Karol, Chief Justice of Manipur High Court Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah of Patna High Court and Justice Manoj Mishra of Allahabad High Court. Justice Pankaj Mittal
Presently Justice Pankaj Mittal is the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. Prior to this, he was the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Courts. Prior to his elevation as Chief Justice, he was a judge of the Allahabad High Court. Justice Mittal was enrolled in the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh in the year 1985 and started practicing in the High Court as an advocate.
Justice Sanjay Karol
Justice Sanjay Karol is the Chief Justice of Patna High Court since November 2019. Earlier, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court. He has also been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. Justice Karol enrolled as an advocate in the year 1986 and started his practice in the High Court and the Supreme Court.
Justice PV Sanjay Kumar
PV Sanjay Kumar (Justice PV Sanjay Kumar) is the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court from the year 2021. Prior to this, he was a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He has also served as a judge in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Justice PV Kumar was enrolled as a member of the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in August 1988.
Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah
Presently Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah is the judge of Patna High Court. He was elevated as a judge of the Patna High Court in 2011, then he was transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2021. Thereafter, he was transferred to the Patna High Court in June 2022. Justice Amanullah was enrolled in the Bihar State Bar Council in September 1991.
Justice Manoj Mishra
Presently Justice Manoj Sinha is the judge of the Allahabad High Court. He took oath as a judge in 2011. Justice Mishra was enrolled as an advocate on December 12, 1988 and started practicing in the Civil, Revenue, Criminal and Constitutional Sides of the Allahabad High Court.
