Amit Shah on Left Wing Extremism: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday (February 7). During this he said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi There is no place for the ideas of violence and left-wing extremism in the ‘self-reliant new India’ led by PM Modi. He said that for the first time in nearly four decades, less than 100 civilians and security forces personnel were killed in 2022 (in Naxalite incidents) and there has been a 76 per cent reduction in Left Wing Extremism incidents by 2022 as compared to 2010.
Chairing a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs, Shah said, “The Ministry’s policy to deal with Left Wing Extremism has three main pillars… Strategy to eliminate violence with utmost toughness, better coordination between the Center and the states.” And ending the support given to extremists through public participation in development.
Government working on this policy
Amit Shah said that the Modi government has made a policy of not tolerating leftist extremism and any kind of violence. The Home Minister said that in the last eight years, the three-pronged policy has given historical results in controlling left-wing extremism.
‘BSF branch strengthened’
Amit Shah informed that the air wing of BSF has been strengthened with induction of new pilots and engineers in the last one year to help in operations in Left Wing Extremism affected areas and save lives of our soldiers.
“The number of civilian and security personnel who died due to Left Wing Extremism has come down by 90 per cent to 98 in 2022 as compared to 2010 (1,005),” Shah said. Amit Shah said that the Union Home Ministry is determined to destroy the entire ecosystem of Left Wing Extremism by closing all avenues of receipt of funds.
