PM Modi Speech in Rajya Sabha: PM Modi strongly attacked the opposition in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday (February 9). In response to the motion of thanks on the President’s address, PM Modi also took a dig at the Gandhi family by mentioning Indira Gandhi and Nehru surname. The Congress leaders have also retaliated on the PM’s address. Know the big things related to this attack.
1. PM Modi said that some people have trouble with Sanskrit words in the names of government schemes. I had read in the news paper that around 600 schemes are named after Gandhi-Nehru. If we fail to mention Nehru anywhere, they (Congress) get upset. Nehru was such a great person, then why none of them use the surname Nehru. What a shame to use the name Nehru. Such a great personality is not acceptable to the family and you ask for our account.
2. The Prime Minister said that they say that we keep troubling the state governments, but they have toppled the elected state governments 90 times. A Congress PM used Article 356 50 times to dismiss elected state governments – that was Indira Gandhi. This country is not the property of any one family. A communist government was elected in Kerala which Pandit Nehru did not like and it was dropped. Even in Tamil Nadu, the Congress people dismissed the governments of stalwarts like MGR and Karunanidhi. Sharad Pawar’s government was also toppled.
3. In the midst of the PM’s address, the opposition MPs also created ruckus. Opposition members continued to raise slogans in the House, demanding an inquiry by the Joint Parliamentary Committee into the allegations related to the Adani group. On this, PM Modi countered and said in a poetic way that the conduct and tone of some members is disappointing for the whole country. I would say to such people- ‘He had mud, I had gulal, whatever he had, he gave it a bounce…’- The more mud you toss, the more the lotus will bloom.
4. Targeting the Congress, the PM said that for 60 years, the Congress family had made potholes. While he was digging the pit, he had wasted 6 decades. At that time even the small countries of the world were touching the heights of success. The country is repeatedly rejecting the Congress, but still the Congress is not desisting from its conspiracies. The public is not only watching them but is also punishing them.
5. During this, the opposition members raised slogans of “Modi-Adani Bhai-Bhai”. PM Modi retaliated on this too. He said that the country is seeing that a single person is overshadowing so many. I live for the country. I have come out to do something for the country. Those who play political games do not have that courage. They are looking for a way to save themselves.
6. Congress leaders strongly retaliated on PM Modi’s address. Congress leader KC Venugopal said that even today we saw the Prime Minister’s drama in the Rajya Sabha. The real issue is the demand of the opposition for the JPC, for which the opposition had come to the Well. PM is talking on all issues, but not on this (Adani) issue. They changed so many names and kept many names after their leaders.
7. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh said that in June 2004, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was not allowed by the BJP to reply to the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. 8. On PM Modi’s allegations, Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said that this information is wrong, Indira Gandhi used to write Indira Nehru Gandhi in all the nominations she had filed. These allegations are wrong. We raised slogans because all the parts of Mallikarjun Kharge’s speech were cut, we wanted to question him but we were not allowed.
9. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Prime Minister of trying to “mislead the nation” on the Adani controversy and asked why banks were giving huge loans to industrialist Gautam Adani. While a common man is facing so much trouble to take a loan. Kharge said that the Prime Minister shied away from answering the Hindenburg-Adani controversy in Parliament.
10. Mallikarjun Kharge said that he did not give any answer in Parliament on the Adani issue. It is not wise on the part of PM Modi to blame someone else and shirk responsibility on the Adani controversy. The central government is putting investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation behind to create a sense of fear in the opposition, but the Congress party is not going to bow down.
