US Reaction on Chinese Spy Balloon: After shooting down a Chinese spy balloon, the US has refused to return its remains. America refused to return the remains of China on Monday (February 6). Along with this, efforts have been made to find and collect the remains of the balloon in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Joe Biden administration shot down a Chinese spy balloon by firing a missile from an F-22 fighter jet off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean in Carolina. Based on the initial information received about it, the White House said with full confidence that it was a spy balloon. Officials said that it violated international rules and sovereignty of countries.
There is no plan to return the remains of the balloon
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby has said that he is not aware of any intention or plan to return it. He had said that the US Army has recovered some remains from the sea and it is still looking for them. Before the balloon was shot down on February 4, Kirby had said that much important information had been collected about it.
The payload was as much as the weight of a jet plane
According to Northern Command Commander General Glenn Vanherk, the balloon was at a height of 200 feet. It carried a payload of several thousand pounds, typically the size of a regional jet aircraft. White House Press Secretary Karin Jean Pierre said that President Joe Biden has instructed the military and intelligence community to collect information about the balloon so that they can learn more about China’s capabilities.
State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters that China knows what it is. US officials said on Monday that the balloon was caught due to orders from President Joe Biden to improve the strength of defensive methods against Chinese espionage.
Increased surveillance in American territory
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that since Biden took office, the US has increased surveillance in its territory. We have improved our ability to detect things that were not there under the previous Donald Trump administration. Many officials during the Trump administration said that they had no information about the Chinese balloon during their tenure.
