Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja: Defeating the Indian team in Test cricket at its home has proved to be a very difficult task for any team in the last decade. The biggest reason for this has been the pair of Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. It has not been an easy task at all for the batsman of any opposition team to face whose turn on the pitch.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have got to see a great bowling record together on Indian pitches so far. Apart from this, whenever these two bowlers have played together in the playing eleven, then the victory of the Indian team is considered almost certain.
Ashwin and Jadeja have played 44 Test matches together so far, in which both have taken 439 wickets at an average of 21.81. During this, both the bowlers together have taken 5 wickets 27 times in an innings. Jadeja has so far taken 177 wickets in his name while playing 37 Test matches in India.
On the other hand, talking about Ashwin, he has taken 315 wickets in his name while playing in 52 Test matches. Apart from this, both the players have been seen making important contributions in the lower order for the team in the last few years on the basis of their batting.
Ashwin completed his 450 wickets in Test cricket.
The first match of the Border-Gavaskar Test series is currently being played between India and Australia in Nagpur. Kangaroo captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first but the team was reduced to scoring just 177 runs in their first innings. Where Jadeja took 5 wickets from the Indian team, Ashwin also took 3 wickets in his name.
With this performance in Test cricket, Ashwin has now crossed the mark of 450 wickets. With this, Ashwin has also become the third fastest bowler to reach this milestone in Test cricket. Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan ahead of him achieved this position in 132 innings and former Indian captain Anil Kumble in 165 innings.
