Association for Democratic Reforms Report: A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), an organization working for electoral reforms, states that in 2021-22, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has received Rs 614 crore, while the Congress has received Rs 95 crore. According to an ADR report, for 2021-22, the total donations received by national political parties from 7,141 donations (above Rs 20,000) have been declared as Rs 780.774 crore.
Maximum donation to BJP
The report said, “The BJP has declared a total of Rs 614.63 crore from 4,957 donations, second only to the BJP. The Congress has declared Rs 95.46 crore from 1,255 donations. The declared donations are three times more than the total donations declared by Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM), NPEP, Trinamool Congress for this period.”
The ADR said that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has declared that it has not received any donation of more than Rs 20,000 during 2021-22. However, BSP has been making such announcements for the last 16 years.
Donation of only 95.46 crores to Congress
Total donations to national parties increased by Rs 187.03 crore during 2021-22, which is 31.50 percent more than 2020-21. Donation to BJP has increased from Rs 477.55 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 614.63 crore in 2021-22. This is an increase of 28.71 percent in one year. While Congress’s donation increased from Rs 74.52 crore in the financial year 2020-21 to Rs 95.46 crore during 2021-22. This is an increase of 28.09 percent.
Decrease in donations of CPI(M)-NCP
At the same time, CPI (M) and NCP have announced to receive 22.06 percent (Rs 2.85 crore) and 40.50 percent (Rs 24.10 lakh) less donations in 2021-22, respectively, as compared to 2020-21. BJP got seven times more money
According to ADR, BJP has received maximum donations of Rs 548.81 crore from corporate/business sectors in 2021-22. This is more than seven times the total amount of corporate donations declared by all the national parties. At the same time, Congress has received a total donation of Rs 54.57 crore through 170 donations from corporate/business sectors during 2021-22. At the same time, Rs 40.89 crore has been received through 1085 individual donors.
Rs 353 crore has been given to BJP and Congress by Prudent Electoral Trust, which is the top donor to the parties receiving the maximum amount. It has been said in the report that Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Limited has donated Rs 15 crore to the Congress.
