Crop Compensation: Farming is such a work, which is completely dependent on nature. Due to the good activities of nature, the productivity of the crop increases, which also increases the chances of the farmers to earn well, but due to climate change, the course of nature has changed since last few years. There is a lot of damage to the crops due to unseasonal rains, storms, hailstorms or other reasons. Crops are getting destroyed day by day due to pests, diseases and weather. In order to reduce the crop losses due to natural calamities, the Center has started Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, in which partial compensation is given to the farmers for the losses.
Many state governments also run many schemes at their level. The Bihar government has also started the Crop Assistance Scheme, in which Rabi crops-wheat, maize, lentils, arhar, gram, sugarcane, mustard-mustard, potato, onion have now been notified.

Under the Bihar Fasal Sahayata Yojana, the farmer has been given the facility to choose more than one crop. On applying in this scheme, the farmer will get the benefit only on 2 hectares of land. Farmers of Nagar Panchayat / Municipal Council area can also apply in this scheme.
Under this scheme, there is a provision of Rs 7,500 per hectare if there is a loss of up to 20% in the crop of the applicant farmer. On the other hand, if there is more than 20% loss, the assistance amount of Rs 10,000 per hectare will be directly transferred to the farmer’s account.

Which farmers will get benefit
According to the rules of Bihar Fasal Sahayata Yojana, the resident of Bihar state- partially raiyat and non-raiyat farmers can also apply in favor of raiyat and non-raiyat farmers.
- Under this scheme, ryot farmers will have to submit updated land ownership certificate/revenue receipt and self declaration certificate.
- Non-ryot farmers will also have to file a self-declaration on behalf of ward member or farmer advisor.
- Farmers falling in the ryot and non-ryot category will have to submit the updated land ownership certificate/revenue receipt and a self-declaration signed by the ward member or the farmer advisor.
- According to the rules of Crop Assistance Scheme, the applicant farmers of selected gram panchayats will be transferred grant-in-aid to Aadhaar linked account through DBT after verification.

The process of application has started from January 1, 2023 in the Bihar State Crop Assistance Scheme. Farmer brothers can apply directly on Bihar DBT Portal till 31st March 2023. During this, farmers should know the area of their crop and sowing.
