George Soros Row: There has been a stir after American billionaire George Soros’ statement on PM Modi and Gautam Adani. The BJP has termed it as a conspiracy being hatched against India from foreign land. Targeting PM Modi, George Soros has said that PM Modi is not democratic. After this statement, BJP and Congress (Congress) have condemned George Soros in one voice. Know the big things related to the matter.
1. American billionaire George Soros said in an address at the Munich Security Conference on Thursday that PM Modi and Gautam Adani are close allies. Their fate is intertwined. Adani Enterprises tried to raise funds in the stock market, but failed.
2. George Soros said that Adani is accused of stock manipulation. His stock collapsed like a sandcastle. Modi is silent on this issue, but he will have to answer questions from foreign investors and in Parliament. Soros claimed that the upheaval in the Adani group could open the door to a democratic revival in the country. He, however, did not present any evidence in support of his claims.
3. George Soros is a famous businessman of America. George had announced a fund of $100 million to fight the alleged nationalists. George funded the campaign against Russia in 1984. Funded the campaign against China in 1986.
4. In the year 2004, a huge amount was given to defeat George W. Bush in the US presidential election. He gave money for the campaign against British PM Boris Johnson. He has been accused of funding a campaign against Netanyahu in Israel.
5. BJP has also retaliated on the statement of George Soros. Union Minister Smriti Irani said on Friday (February 17) that George Soros is trying to weaken India’s democracy. He has done crores of funding to target a leader like Modi.
6. Irani said that critics like Soros have started attacking India because it has emerged as the fifth largest economy in the world. Smriti Irani claimed that George Soros has announced that he will hurt India’s democratic structure. He has announced that he is the PM Narendra Modi But will hurt. Every Indian should answer the announcement of George Soros.
7. Though Smriti Irani did not make any direct reference to the Congress, some BJP spokespersons, including Shahzad Poonawalla and RP Singh, questioned the opposition party’s relationship with Soros. RP Singh asked whether Rahul Gandhi has ever met Soros?
8. The statement of George Soros has also been condemned by the Congress. The Congress on Friday said the Nehruvian legacy in India ensures that people like American billionaire George Soros cannot decide the outcome of Indian elections.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted that whether or not the Adani scam involving the Prime Minister initiates a democratic resurgence in India entirely depends on the Congress, the opposition and our election process. It has nothing to do with George Soros. Our Nehruvian legacy ensures that people like him cannot decide our election results.
10. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi targeted the BJP for making sharp comments on the issue. He said that our Indian billionaires have opinion on other countries as well. Thankfully those countries don’t have troll ministers who hold press conferences to tell threats to democracy or the nation.
