Russia Ukraine Row: French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday (February 14) that India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, can inspire the world to resolve the “serious issue” of Russian aggression against Ukraine. “We are working for the success of India’s G20 chairmanship at a difficult time with the Russian aggression on Ukraine,” he said.

He was addressing a program organized through video conference on the occasion of agreement to buy aircraft between India’s Air India and France’s Airbus. “India, under your leadership, can clearly inspire the whole world and help solve the serious issue facing us,” Macron said. India has not publicly criticized Russia over the attack in Ukraine. but the prime minister Narendra Modi Told Russian President Vladimir Putin last year that ‘today’s era is not of war’.

‘250 aircraft deal milestone’

Macron said the deal between Air India and Airbus for the acquisition of 250 aircraft is a milestone in the deepening strategic and friendly partnership between India and France. “This achievement shows that Airbus and its partners, including Safran, are fully committed to developing new areas of cooperation with India and we have partnered with India from space to cyber, from defense to culture, from health to healthcare,” he said. Has achieved a lot with India in many areas like energy transition.

‘Historic opportunity to move forward’

French President Emmanuel Macron said, “We now have a historic opportunity to go much further given the potential of India and the Indian people.” Giving new aircraft will be another step in this direction.
