Naba Kishore Das Murder Case: Odisha minister Naba Kishore Das was cremated in Jharsuguda on Monday (January 30) with full state honours. Nab Kishore Das was shot dead by a policeman in Brajrajnagar on Sunday (January 30). After which he died during treatment in the hospital. The ASI who attacked was caught by the people and handed over to the police. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered the formation of SIT to investigate the matter.
The team formed under the leadership of DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora is in Brajrajnagar to investigate the matter. The team has questioned the eyewitnesses including the informer during its investigation on Monday. The team along with forensic/ballistic experts visited the spot i.e. Lift and Shifting Office building near Gandhi Chowk and seized some articles.
Gopal Krishna Das sacked
The Crime Branch said that in the case of the death of the Health Minister of Odisha, the Crime Branch team has seized a 9 mm pistol, 3 live cartridges and a mobile handset from the accused ASI Gopal Krishna Das. The seized goods will be sent for ballistic test. The accused ASI Gopal Krishna Das is in police custody and will be sent to court for further police remand. A police officer said that Gopal Krishna Das has been dismissed from service.
investigation of the case continues
Another team headed by DSP Shishir Mishra and staff conducted the investigation in Bhubaneswar. In Bhubaneswar, the team seized medical records and bloodstained clothes. The viscera has been preserved for further chemical examination. Additional Director General of Police, CID/Crime Odisha is present at the spot and is personally monitoring and supervising the investigation of the case. The inspection of the matter is going on.
Odisha CMO on Monday said that in order to bring accountability and transparency, the Odisha government has requested the Orissa High Court for a sitting/retired High Court judge or district judge to supervise the crime branch investigation as the accused is a is a police officer.
