Pervez Musharraf War With India: Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf died on Sunday (February 5) in a hospital in Dubai. Pervez Musharraf was also the Chief of the Pakistan Army. He fought three wars against India. Musharraf had a huge contribution in provoking the Kargil war. With this, in the year 1999, he toppled the democratically elected government by a military coup. He tried to establish himself as a progressive leader during his 9 years rule. Let us now tell you about the three wars that he fought against India.

Indo-Pak war of 1965

Pervez Musharraf fought as a young officer in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. Pakistan had lost this war. Despite this, the Government of Pakistan had honored Musharraf by giving him the Imtiaji Medal. In 1965, Musharraf learned the tricks of the war with the artillery regiment in the Khemkaran sector.

Musharraf’s role in the 1971 war

After this there was another war between India and Pakistan in 1971 and this time Pervez Musharraf played an important role in the war. From 1965 to 1972, Musharraf served in the elite Special Service Group (SSG). In view of his role in the war of 71, the Government of Pakistan again promoted him. During the 1971 war with India, he was the company commander of SSG commando battalion. However, Pakistan had to face defeat in this war as well.

Musharraf got continuous promotion

In the same way, gradually Pervez Musharraf reached the rank of General and on October 7, 1998, he was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Musharraf was given the additional charge of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee on 9 April 1999.

Had a dream to capture Kargil

This was the same time when Pervez Musharraf hatched the Kargil conspiracy against India, but he failed miserably. When he could not capture Kargil, he blamed Nawaz Sharif for it. In his biography ‘In the Line of Fire – A Memoir’, General Musharraf wrote that he had vowed to capture Kargil, but could not do so because of Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif had clearly retracted

Significantly, after the humiliating defeat in Kargil, Pakistan’s President Nawaz Sharif had said that the operation was done without his knowledge. However, the details of the briefing he received from the army before and after the Kargil operation became public. According to reports, prior to the operation, between January and March, Sharif was briefed about the operation in three separate meetings.
