Political upheaval again in Nepal

Prachanda’s refusal infuriated RSP’s central members and MPs, and then after a joint meeting, it was decided that they would walk out of the ruling coalition.
Rabi Lamichhane, who was the Deputy PM of Nepal, had to step down recently after the Nepalese Supreme Court disqualified his citizenship. After which he was relieved of all responsibilities.
Lamichhane is the chief of the fourth largest party
Lamichhane, 48, was elected from the Chitwan-2 constituency during the elections held in November last year. He lost his MLA status after a ruling by Nepal’s Supreme Court on 27 January ruled that the citizenship certificate he had submitted to contest the parliamentary elections was invalid. Subsequently, he lost his ministerial portfolio and also the chairmanship of the party as one needs to be a Nepali citizen to hold those posts.
PM Prachanda did not ask for Lamichhane
According to the Kathmandu Post newspaper, on January 29, after Lamichhane regained his citizenship, he met Prachanda and demanded that he be reinstated to his former cabinet post. But the Prime Minister of Nepal was in no mood to relent.
Lamichhane was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister on December 26 last year. The RSP, launched by Lamichhane, won 20 seats in the federal elections, making it the fourth largest force in parliament.
Lamichhane was the first journalist
Lamichhane was a journalist before becoming a politician. He shot to fame in 2013 when he attempted to set the Guinness World Record for hosting the longest running talk show.
In a press conference organized after the joint meeting of the Central Committee of the RSP on Sunday, Lamichhane said that in the past also attempts were made to implicate him in many controversies, but he always managed to avoid it.
