A rose which used to be sold for Rs.8 to 10 in normal days, these days is being sold at Rs.50 and Rs.100, let alone Rs.150.

If reports are to be believed, the prices of flowers skyrocketed in Ghazipur mandi as soon as the Valentine’s week started. On the very first day of January 7 i.e. Valentine’s Day, the rose which was sold at the price of Rs.4 to 5, was sold at the wholesale rate of Rs.40 to 50. We are talking about the red rose, which cost Rs 15 in Ghazipur mandi, but rose to Rs 50 to 60 by the time it reached the hands of the lover. At the same time, the price of a bouquet was told up to thousands of rupees.
The trader of Ghazipur Mandi told that 70 percent of the flowers are exported from Bangalore and Nagpur. Apart from white, yellow, familia, orange colored roses, Gerbera flowers also come to Ghazipur Mandi from here. Traders tell that the price of the market is determined according to the income. If the arrival is more and the sale is less, then the prices come down. At the same time, due to less arrival and increase in demand, the prices also increase.

Gerbera is grown the most in Telangana.
