New Haj Policy 2023: India has been given a quota of about 1.75 lakh for Haj this year. Under the new Haj policy, 90% of the total quota will be allotted to the Haj Committee of India and the rest to private operators. However, the government has not yet opened the applications for Haj. Under the new policy, special arrangements will be made for women, children, persons with disabilities and the elderly. There will be 25 departure points for Haj-2023.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs tweeted, “The new historic Haj policy will bring financial relief to the pilgrims. Application forms are now free for the first time. The cost of Haj package has been reduced by about Rs 50,000.”

Sources said that the departure points (embarkation points) of Haj pilgrimage are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Srinagar, Ranchi, Gaya, Aurangabad, Varanasi, Jaipur, Nagpur, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kannur, Vijayawada, Agartala and Calicut are included. Sources also said that the departure points can be increased if needed.
Will get free travel form
First time application will be available free of cost. Those who will be selected for Haj, they will have to pay some fees related to the process. Earlier the Haj application fee was Rs 300. Top sources of the government told that this time priority will be given to women, elderly and differently-abled for Haj.
Women will be able to travel without Mehram
If a woman above 45 years of age applies without a ‘Mehram’ (close male relative), she will be allowed to go on Haj. Earlier women were allowed to go in groups if they were not Mehram. This year 1.75 lakh people from India will go on Haj.
