PM Matasya Sampada Yojana: The trend of fish farming is increasing in the rural areas of the country. It has become a good source of income just like animal husbandry. Earlier fish farming was limited only to river and sea. A particular fisherman used to do the work of fishing for the community, but today the increasing demand for fish has inspired the farmers in every village to raise fish. Due to this, the farmers also get additional income and the agricultural land is also used properly. This also maintains the ground water level. The good thing is that for this work the central and state governments together are giving financial and technical support to the farmers.

The Center has also launched the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PM Matasya Sampada Yojana), under which grants are given to farmers across the country for modern fish farming. State governments also contribute in this scheme at their own level.

In this episode, a good news is going to come soon for the farmers of Jharkhand. The state government has decided to increase the amount of subsidy from 40% to 80% to promote fish farming, although the paper work on this decision is still going on, after completion of which farmers will be given the benefit of this scheme.

40% to 60% grant was available for fish farming
Under the Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, there is a provision of 40% to 60% subsidy to the farmers and fisheries of Jharkhand. Under this scheme, 60% subsidy is given to SC, ST and women beneficiaries.

There is a provision of 40% grant to the general category beneficiaries, but now it is being increased to 80%. Several meetings have also taken place in this matter. As soon as the action is completed in this way, the farmers will also start getting benefits officially.

Fish farming is being done on a large scale in Jharkhand, the consumption of fish here is also very high. Now farmers, fish farmers and fishermen are adopting new techniques to get official production of fishes.

Under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, subsidy is given for training and setting up units for these techniques. For the expansion of fisheries sector in the state, last year the government had set a target of producing 2,15,000 metric tonnes of fish in Jharkhand, whereas this year 2,57,000 metric tonnes of fish production is to be done.

Government will also give loan
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, the central and state governments together provide technical information, training and financial grants to farmers, fish farmers and fishermen, but to settle the rest of the expenses, on the lines of the Kisan Credit Card, the Fisheries Credit Card Scheme (Kisan Credit Card) is also being run, under which loans up to 1 lakh 60,000 are given without guarantee.

By fulfilling the terms and conditions of this scheme, a maximum loan of up to 3 lakhs can be taken at affordable rates. Farmers have to pay 7% interest on this loan. If the loan is repaid on time, then 4% subsidy is also given by the government.

In this way only 3% interest rates will have to be paid.
