Republic Day Parade 2023: Today, on January 26, the 74th Republic Day is being celebrated with great pomp. On this occasion, when the contingents of the Indian Armed Forces marched on the path of duty, a magnificent sight of valor and discipline was seen. This was the first parade after changing the name of Duty Path. Earlier it was known as Rajpath. President Murmu unfurled the national flag on the path of duty. After this, the President was given a salute of 21 guns.

Some of the highlights of the parade on 74th Republic Day were like this
- The parade began with a march on the path of duty by Parade Commander Lt Gen Dheeraj Seth, awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. After this, second-in-command Major General Bhavnish Kumar came in the parade. Behind them the winners of the highest gallantry awards – the Param Vir Chakra and the Ashok Chakra – followed the parade commander respectively.
- For the first time the Egyptian army took part in the march. The Egyptian army contingent marched on the path of duty under the leadership of Colonel Mahmoud Mohamed Abdel Fattah El Kharasawi. Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi was the chief guest on the occasion.
- Under the leadership of Captain Raizada Shaurya Bali, the first contingent in uniform of 61 Cavalry marched on the path of duty. Raised in 1953, the 61st Cavalry is the only serving active horse cavalry regiment in the world to consist of all ‘State Horse Units’.
- This time a glimpse of the Make in India initiative was also visible. The 25 powder guns traditionally used in the 21-gun salute were replaced by 105 mm Indian field guns.
- For the first time, recruits recruited through the Agneepath scheme were part of the Agniveer Republic Day parade.
- For the first time, women riders participated in the camel contingent of the Border Security Forces. The 12 women riders included Sonal, Nisha, Bhagwati, Ambika, Kusum, Priyanka, Kaushalya, Kajal, Bhawna and Hina.
- An all women contingent of CRPF – ‘Peacekeepers of the Nation’ led by Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta participated. The force has the distinction of being the first all-women armed police battalion in the world.
- The Corps of Signals Dare Devils team mesmerized the audience with their performance. On the path of duty, 33 daredevils surprised everyone by forming a ‘human pyramid’ on nine motorcycles.
- A flypast of 45 aircraft of the Indian Air Force took place in the grand finale of the 74th Republic Day parade. One Indian Navy and four Indian Army helicopters participated in this.
- The women power of the parade was also visible. In this tableau of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Tripura, “women power” and women empowerment dominated.
