What is Uttar Pradesh Millets Revival Program
Under this new scheme launched in view of the International Year of Millet 2023, the UP government has planned to spend Rs 18626.50 lakh in 5 years. The main objective of this program is to increase the income of the farmers by increasing the area coverage, production and productivity while promoting millet cultivation.
For this, through value addition and marketing, millet will be taken to the plate of the general public, so that they can be motivated to adopt a balanced diet.

A State Level Project Screening Committee will also be set up under the chairmanship of the Director of Agriculture for policy formulation, criteria for eligibility, criteria for payment of grants and review of the scheme from time to time for the operation of this scheme, which will be responsible for accepting the proposals and The work of monitoring and release of funds will be done under the State Level Sanctioning Committee constituted under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture.
Why so much focus on millet
