Pakistan Peshawar Mosque Blast: Many countries including India have expressed their condolences on the major suicide attack in Pakistan. Today, Chinese President Xi Jinping also condemned the attack on the Pakistani mosque. Xi Jinping said, “China opposes all forms of terrorism and strongly condemns this incident.”
According to the AFP report, more than 100 lives have been lost in a suicide blast inside a mosque located in the High Security Zone of Peshawar on Monday. Pakistani security forces and rescue teams were engaged in relief work since the explosion. Their rescue operation ended on Wednesday with a death toll of 101.
China condemned the attack in Pakistan
After this attack, the Prime Minister of Pakistan went among the victims and consoled them. At the same time, on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping had talks with Pakistan President Arif Alvi. In which President Xi said, “Beijing will continue to firmly support Pakistan in promoting its national counter-terrorism action plan, maintaining social stability and protecting the people.”
Pledged to cooperate firmly with Pakistan
It should be noted that China and Pakistan have been allies for a long time. Both countries have been vocal against India on various occasions. In recent years, China has invested money in development projects in Pakistan and also provided weapons in the name of combating terrorism and improving security. But there have also been sporadic attacks on Chinese citizens, including a suicide bombing targeting staff at a Confucius Institute in Karachi last year.
Regarding the Peshawar attack 2 days ago, the police officer said that this attack was done in retaliation for the campaign against Islamic extremists. The attack took place on 30 January when hundreds of people, including police personnel, had gathered there for afternoon prayers.
