Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at the Modi government regarding the budget, ‘maybe minority children…’

Asaduddin Owaisi on Union Budget 2023: AIMIM (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has targeted the central government while reacting to the budget on Wednesday (February 1). He said, “The Modi government has cut the budget of the Ministry of Minority Affairs by 40%. Perhaps, according to Modi, the poor minority children do not need the government’s “effort”, slogans like Sabka Vikas… are enough.”

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the Union Budget 2023 on Wednesday. In the last full budget before the general elections next year, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Indian economy is on the right track and is moving towards a bright future. In a big boost to taxpayers and the economy, Sitharaman announced major changes in tax slabs under the new tax regime and a big hike in allocation for railways and capital expenditure.

In the budget presented on Wednesday, the budgetary allocation for the Ministry of Minority Affairs has come down by 38 per cent to Rs 3097.60 crore for 2023-24 as compared to the previous financial year. The budget presented for the financial year 2022-23 was Rs 5020.50 crore, which means that 38.30 percent of the budget allocation for the coming financial year has been reduced.

Out of the proposed allocation to the ministry, Rs 1,689 crore is for education empowerment. Over Rs 64.4 crore has been allocated for skill development and livelihood. The budget estimate for the umbrella program for the development of minorities is Rs 610 crore.

Praising the Union Budget, Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani said, “Congratulations to PM Modi and the Finance Minister for a truly ‘Amrit Kaal Budget’ that symbolizes inclusive growth and strengthens economic fundamentals.” “The thrust given on infra, tech, green energy and other sectors will institutionalize India’s growth in times to come,” he said.
