Asaram Bapu News: A Gandhinagar court in Gujarat on Monday convicted Asaram Bapu in the rape case of a female disciple. This case against Asaram was registered in 2013. Earlier, a Jodhpur court in 2018 convicted Asaram for raping a minor in 2013 and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Asaram is currently serving that sentence in Jodhpur Central Jail.

Public Prosecutor RC Kodekar said on Monday, “The court has accepted the prosecution case and Asaram has been booked under sections 376 (2) (c), 377 (unnatural sex) and illegal confinement of the Indian Penal Code.” Convicted.” Additional Sessions Judge D.K. Soni has acquitted six others including Asaram’s wife Lakshmi in this case. Those acquitted include Asaram’s daughter Bharti, Motera Ashram office bearer Dhruvben Balani, employee Jaswantiben Chowdhary, Asaram’s followers Nirmala and Meera.

Why were the other accused acquitted?

Asaram’s lawyer Chandrashekhar Gupta said, “The other accused have been acquitted for lack of evidence against them and the court has not believed the charge of criminal conspiracy.” Please tell that the court will hear the sentence of Asaram today i.e. on Tuesday. Asaram, 81, is serving a life sentence in Jodhpur jail for raping a minor girl at his ashram in Rajasthan in 2013.

Asaram appeared through video conferencing

On Monday, Asaram appeared through video conferencing. Asaram’s wife could not appear in the court because she is admitted in a hospital in Surat due to ill health. Asaram’s daughter also could not reach on time, so the court had to wait for the verdict. The entire proceedings of the court took place in The Room, except for the lawyers on record, no one was allowed inside the court room.

The charge sheet was filed in 2014

During the trial, special prosecutor RC Kodekar examined 68 witnesses. At the same time, Asaram termed the allegations as a criminal conspiracy against him. Let us tell you that in October 2013, a Surat-based woman had filed a case against Asaram and seven others alleging rape and illegal confinement. One of the accused died during the pendency of the trial. A charge sheet was filed in the case in July 2014.
