Big blow to Australia, Mitchell Starc will not play in first test against India

Mitchell Starc Set To Miss First Test Against India: The Australian team has suffered a major setback before the Test series against India. Actually, the team’s main fast bowler Mitchell Starc will not play in the first Test against India. He himself has confirmed this.

Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has confirmed that he will miss the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India as he is nursing a finger injury. Starc injured his left index finger in the Boxing Day Test against South Africa and then missed the last match of the series.

‘We will meet in Delhi after winning the first Test’

When Mitchell Starc was asked about his fitness, the fast bowler said, “I am on the verge of recovery, still a few weeks and then probably will meet the players in Delhi. Hope to reach Delhi after winning the first Test.”

The first Test of the four-match Test series between India and Australia is to be played in Nagpur from 09 to 13 February and the second Test in New Delhi from 17 to 21 February. Apart from Starc, Cameron Green has also been battling a finger problem since the Boxing Day Test win over the Proteas. However, Australian coach Andrew McDonald said that Green would be given every opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of the series opener.

He has not been ruled out, McDonald was quoted as saying. We just want to make sure that we prepare all our players for success and give them every opportunity to prove their fitness.
