Muslim Enrollment In Higher Education In Haryana: According to the data of the All India Higher Education Survey (AISHE 2020-21) released by the Ministry of Education on Sunday (January 29), the enrollment of Muslims in higher education in Haryana ) has declined by 18.9 percent.
It has been told in the survey that 12,877 Muslims had enrolled for higher education in Haryana in 2019-20, this number has come down to 10,445 in 2020-21, which shows a decline of 18.9 percent in this case. It has also been told in the survey that of all the social groups, only the number of enrollment of Muslims has registered a decline.
The number of Muslims in the total enrollment is one percent.
A total of 10.29 lakh enrollments were done for higher education courses in the state in 2020-21. Of these, the enrollment of Muslims was 10,445, which is only about one percent of the total enrollment. This figure is when according to the 2011 census, the share of Muslims in Haryana’s population is 7.03 percent. Please tell that since then no new census has been done.
Muslim enrollment declines for the second time in five years
This is the second time in five years (from 2016-17 to 2020-21) that the enrollment of Muslims in higher education in the state has declined. Last time in 2017-18, there were a total of 7,607 enrollments in higher education in the state, which was less than 8,447 enrollments in 2016-17.
The number of Muslim teachers is also very less.
Even in the case of teachers in higher educational institutions of Haryana, the number of Muslims is very less. Of the total 39,356 teachers, only 2,644 are SC (6.7%), 46 ST (0.1%), 4,634 OBC (11.8%) and 709 Muslim (1.8%).
What is the status of Gross Enrollment Ratio?
There are 56 universities and 1,083 colleges in the state. The report states that while the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education in Haryana is 31.1, it is 22 in the case of Scheduled Castes (SCs).
