Cricket Match In Jammu Kashmir: The people of the valley are excited by the news of hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup match (ICC ODI World Cup 2023) for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. After a gap of three decades, an international cricket match can be held at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar. So far only two One Day International matches have been played in the stadium. After about 37 years, Kashmir will host the Cricket World Cup match. The official confirmation of the match is yet to be done.
The first match in Jammu and Kashmir was played on 13 October 1983 between India and West Indies. In this match the pitch was attacked by the crowd. India batted first in the match, but the match was affected during the lunch interval due to people digging up the pitch. This match was also affected by rain and West Indies was declared the winner.
Last international match played in 1986
The last match played in Srinagar was in 1986 between India and Australia. It was a 50-over match which Australia won by 3 wickets. The ICC World Cup 2023 is the 13th edition of the World Cup and it will be the first World Cup to be hosted entirely by India.
Kashmir can get cricket world cup match
The matches will start from October 2023 till 26 November 2023. A total of 48 matches are to be played in the ICC World Cup. Sources have said that a match will be played in Srinagar during the final phase. Ten teams will fight each other for the trophy in the World Cup. The final of the ICC World Cup will be played on 26 November 2023 in Ahmedabad. However, the final dates of the World Cup have not been announced by the ICC officials.
Let us tell you that in November 2007, the CRPF had decided to vacate the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium. After which the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association planned to renovate the stadium. Here from 2009 the first class cricket (Cricket) started again.
