Siddaramaiah on Hindutva: Siddaramaiah, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, has once again created a ruckus by issuing a controversial statement. He says that he is not anti-Hindu but anti-Hinduism because according to him Hindutva is for murder, violence and discrimination. Hindutva is against the constitution. After this statement of Siddaramaiah, now the atmosphere in the political corridors has become heated.
Siddaramaiah did not stop at this. He further said that Hindutva and Hinduism are different. He is not against Hinduism. He is a Hindu but opposes Manuvad and Hindutva. He says that no religion supports murder and violence but Hindutva and Manuvad support murder, violence and discrimination. This is not the first time that the minister has courted controversy with his remarks on Hindutva.
Sharp attack on Animal Husbandry Minister
Earlier on January 8, he asserted that he is a Hindu but opposes Hindutva. In the same program, he also said that he never opposed the Ram temple in Ayodhya but was against using it for political gains. He also attacked Karnataka Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan, calling him a ‘fool’ who cannot differentiate between a cow and a goat.
Siddaramaiah lashed out at BJP
At the same time, he targeted the BJP and said that the BJP leaders gave Rs 15 to 20 crores to each MLA and formed the government through ‘Operation Kamala’ under the leadership of Yeddyurappa. The minister claimed that in 2013, his party fulfilled 158 out of 165 promises and launched 30 new programmes. On the other hand, BJP made 600 promises in 2018, out of which even 50 to 60 were not fulfilled. By imposing 18 percent tax on pens, pencils, books and curd, the government has put more burden on the common man.
