Uniform Civil Code: The Mizoram Assembly passed a resolution on Tuesday (14 February) against the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). It said that if steps are taken regarding Uniform Civil Code anywhere in the country, we will oppose it.
Presenting the proposal, State Home Minister Lalchamliana said that if the UCC is implemented, it will divide the country. This was attributed to the religious, social practices, cultures and traditions of the minorities including the people of Mizoram.
