WPL Title Sponsorship: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now invited tenders to sell title sponsor rights after auctioning the teams and media rights of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The board will auction the title sponsor rights for the first five seasons i.e. from 2023 to 2027. Let us inform that the first season of WPL is to be played in March this year.
Companies wishing to acquire title sponsor rights must purchase a Request for Proposal (RFP) document. In this, there will be information about all the conditions, rules and regulations, eligibility criteria, submission process related to the title sponsorship auction. Its cost is Rs 1 lakh on which GST will also be applicable. It will be non refundable. The last date to buy this document is 9 February 2022. After purchasing the document, companies will have to send payment details to rfp@bcci.tv.
Viacom 18 has bought media rights
Viacom 18, a broadcasting company affiliated with Reliance Group, has bought the media rights for the first 5 years (2023-27) of WPL. These include both TV and digital rights. The company will give Rs 951 crore to BCCI for this.
These companies have bought teams
Recently the teams for WPL were auctioned. 5 teams will play in the first season. In such a situation, there was competition among 17 companies to buy these 5 franchises. Here IPL’s Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals got one team each. The other two teams were bought by Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd and Capri Global Holding Pvt Ltd. These 5 teams were sold for a total of Rs 4670 crore.
Players auction can be held in the second week of February
The players’ auction for the opening season of the Women’s Premier League could be held in the second week of February. According to media reports, it is almost decided to hold this auction in a hotel in New Delhi on 10 and 11 February. In this auction, 5 franchises will choose their respective squads.
