London Police Cop Life Sentence for 71 Sexual Offenses: Former police officer David Carrick, 48, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in London, England. He was accused of 71 sex crimes during his 17-year career. He was found guilty of various crimes ranging from rape and being jailed on false charges. The policeman will have to serve a minimum sentence of 36 years.
In sentencing Carrick at Southwark Crown Court, Indian-origin Justice Cheema-Grubb said, “You acted as if you were clueless. You spent almost two decades proving yourself right”. The justices said that Carrick had completely misused his position as a police officer. Judge Chima-Grubb said, “Because of the position, you exercised control over others and used undue power, on the basis of which you carried out a number of wrongful acts.”

David Carrick was found guilty of 48 rapes. Carrick will have to spend at least 30 years in jail before getting parole. Before that it is difficult for him to get parole. Convicted police officer David Carrick had joined the Metropolitan Police Force in 2001. After this he took charge of parliamentary and diplomatic security in 2009. Carrick committed all the crimes when he was a police officer.

David Carrick came under suspicion when a woman was raped and strangled to death two years ago in March 2021 along with then associate police officer Wayne Couzens. David Carrick’s name also came up in the murder case. In view of the murder case, his crimes were investigated. A few days after the investigation, he was dismissed from the post of police officer. While pronouncing the sentence, the judge said that for such a crime, the sentence of life imprisonment is right.
