Singapore Police Arrest ISIS Supporter: Singaporean security officials on Wednesday (February 1) informed that they have arrested an 18-year-old boy on charges of supporting the Islamic State group (IS) and planning to carry out attacks.
Muhammad Irfan Daniel bin Muhammad Nor, a Singaporean student, was arrested in December under the Internal Security Act (ISA), which allows detention without trial for up to two years.

Singaporean security officials said in a statement that he was radicalized after seeing propaganda from the Islamic State group online and said he wanted to use social media to mobilize fighters to carry out attacks in Singapore. The officials further said that the radical’s plan included recruiting a suicide car bomber to attack an army camp as well as bomb a cemetery. Singapore’s Law and Home Affairs Minister K. K.Shanmugam said, “At the time of his arrest, he appeared determined to commit violence.” Such cases are very different in a multi-culture and multi-racial country like Singapore.

In 2020, Singapore authorities detained a 16-year-old boy who had planned to attack two mosques in Singapore, inspired by the massacre of Muslims in New Zealand.
Just a year later in 2021, a 20-year-old Muslim boy was arrested under the same law after authorities accused him of planning a fatal stabbing against Jews in a synagogue.
