So on the other hand the world famous face of Super 30, Anand Kumar and Kapildev Prasad have got Padma Shri for Baavan Booti. On this special occasion, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also congratulated and congratulated Subhadra Devi.
What is papermache art?
Papermache is originally known as the art of Jammu and Kashmir, but Subhadra Devi of Bihar learned this art in her childhood and used to create art pieces among her friends.
Paper mache is the art of making paper by melting it into a pulp and then pounding the puffed paper and making a paste using gum Neena and Thotha and making artefacts from it.
With its help different types of artifacts are made. Even during festivals in India, masks and small idols are made from this art. Generally you would have seen the use of paper mache art on the masks of Ravana or Meghnath on the occasion of festivals like Dussehra.
How the pulp is prepared
Preparation of pulp is most important for papiermache art. But if you do not know how to prepare it, then first of all you have to fill water in a tub. After this the paper is cut into small pieces and soaked in the water of the tub.
In the process of making pulp, it should be kept in mind that the water is on top of the papers and it should be changed once in a week. After soaking the piece of paper in water for two weeks, it is removed from the tub. Due to being in water for so many days, small fibers of the broken paper come out and then the paper is ready for pulping.
After two weeks, the paper is taken out of the water and beaten in a mortar and in the process of beating it is prepared by mixing blue sandalwood and gum. After that you can give the size of the object you want to shape.
This art is also famous in Rajasthan
Papermashi art is also very famous in Rajasthan. There its demand increases during the fair organized on the occasion of any festival. Whenever artefacts are made using this art in Rajasthan, a lot of water colors are used in it. Most of the toys are made in Rajasthani papermache.
Who is Subhadra Devi
Subhadra Devi’s in-laws house is in Bhitthi Salempur village near Madhubani district headquarters. Subhadra Devi has three daughters and two sons. Presently he is in Delhi with his younger son. Subhadra Devi’s maternal uncle is in Balaur village near Manigachhi in Darbhanga district. The art for which he has been awarded is also unique. He is being given this award for his excellent performance in paper mache art. Earlier he has been awarded the State Award in 1980 and the National Award in 1991.

Nitish Kumar tweeted that hearty congratulations and best wishes to Subhadra Devi of Madhubani, Bihar, on receiving the Padma Shri for her significant contribution in the field of art. Three people from Bihar were awarded this honour
Three people from Bihar have received Padma Shri award. In which Super Thirty’s mentor Anand Kumar has been awarded the Padma Shri award in the field of literature and education. Nalanda has received the second Padma Shri award after a year. Weaver Kapildev Prasad, a resident of Baswan Bigha village, three kilometers away from Bihar Sharif headquarters, has received the Padma Shri award. Last year, Acharya Chandana ji, the Veerayatan head of Rajgir, had received this honour.
Kapildev Prasad has received this honor for the work being done for the weavers and for giving recognition to Bawan Booti art at the national level.
What is Baavan Booti
In the handloom competition held in the year 2017, 31 weavers of the country were selected for the National Award for making beautiful artwork. Kapildev Prasad of Nalanda was also included in these. This is an exclusive hand crafted saree. Handcrafted on a simple cotton and wire cloth, this saree is known for its quality.
There are 52 identical motifs in the whole saree, due to which it is called Baavan Booti. This saree also has a glimpse of Buddhist culture. Besides the sarees adorned with fifty-two herbs, chadars, shawls, handkerchiefs, curtains, etc. are also made. Apart from Kapil Dev Prasad, Anand Kumar and Subhadra Devi have also been awarded Padma Shri. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also given congratulations and best wishes to all.
What is Padma Shri, why is it so honourable
Padma Shri or Padmashree is an honor given by the Government of India generally only to Indian citizens who have distinguished themselves in various fields of life such as art, education, industry, literature, science, sports, medicine, social service and public life etc. It is given to recognize their specific contribution.
The Padma award was started in the year 1954. After this it has been given every year except for the interruptions between the years 1978-1979 and 1993-1997.
