US Special Forces Killed Terrorist: America’s special forces conducted an operation against Islamic State terrorists in northern Somalia. The US military on Wednesday (January 25) killed Bilal al-Sudani, a senior leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) in northern Somalia, including 10 of his associates in a special operation. There is no news of any civilian being injured or killed in the US Army operation.
A US official said on Thursday that a major Islamic State terrorist was killed in a helicopter attack in an area of Northern Somalia.
10 terrorists including Bilal killed
US forces have claimed to have killed al-Sudani, a senior Islamic State leader in Somalia. The Biden administration announced on Thursday that US special operations forces killed a senior official of the Islamic State group and 10 other terrorists in far northern Somalia. In an operation carried out on Wednesday, January 25, Bilal al-Sudani, the chief leader of the global terrorist organization, was targeted in a mountain cave complex.
Special Operation in Northern Somalia
President Joe Biden was informed about the proposed mission last week. This operation was carried out after months of planning. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed the killing of the terrorists in the special operation. He said that on January 25, on the orders of the President, the US Army conducted an operation in northern Somalia, in which many ISIS terrorists were killed.
Terrorist Al Sudani was on the radar for many years
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that al-Sudani had been on the radar of US intelligence officials for the past several years. Bilal al-Sudani played an important role in providing financial support to IS operations in Africa as well as ISIS-K, a terrorist organization operating in Afghanistan.
The US Treasury Department alleged last year that al-Sudani had worked closely with another IS operative, Abdellah Hussein Abadigga. It recruited youths in South Africa and sent them to arms training camps.
