India Border Villages Development Project: To strengthen the border with China, the central government has taken several major decisions today. These include increasing the deployment of security forces on the border as well as the overall development of villages bordering China. Taking lessons from the incidents of Doklam and Galvan, the Modi government has started the work of strengthening the China border.
Preparing to respond to China
The central government is now not only preparing to respond to China by increasing vigil on the border, but has also decided to strengthen the infrastructure on the border. In the Modi cabinet meeting on Wednesday, it was decided that the villages adjacent to the China border would be developed. For this, a new scheme named Vibrant Village Program has been approved.
2966 border villages will be developed
Under the scheme, 2966 border villages in 19 districts of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will be developed. Rs 4800 crore has been allocated for this scheme, in which Rs 2500 crore has been given only for making roads.
Vigilance on the border is also going to increase
Along with the border villages, the Modi government is also going to increase the vigil on the border. Today, in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), a decision was taken to form 7 new battalions of ITBP. It has also been decided to set up a sector headquarters.
At the same time, it has also been decided to create 9400 new posts with these steps of the government. In January 2020, it was decided to create 47 new border posts, which will increase the total number of border posts on the China border to 223. Apart from this, in today’s meeting, the cabinet has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the Union Cooperative Minister to further strengthen the cooperative sector. Along with this, it has also been decided to form PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit System) in 2 lakh panchayats of different states, which have also been empowered to do more than 25 works at the panchayat level.
