Ebrahim Raisi China Visit: Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi has gone to China for a three-day visit. The Iranian President has reached China on Tuesday (February 14). This is the first time in Iran’s 20-year history that an Iranian President has visited China. Chinese President Xi Jinping had invited Ibrahim Raisi to visit. The invitation came after a diplomatic row over a joint statement by China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in December. On this high-profile visit, Iran and China will focus on strengthening their relations.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said at a weekly press conference in Tehran yesterday that the visit shows that there is supreme political will to enhance relations between the two countries. He said the discussions between Iranian and Chinese officials will focus on important issues of mutual benefit with a focus on the 25-year political settlement.
Economic cooperation can be discussed
Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi’s deputy chief of staff, Mohammad Jamshidi, told state TV on Sunday (February 12) night that the main purpose behind the visit was to discuss comprehensive economic cooperation between the two countries. He said that both sides have advanced systems to implement the long-term strategy agreement, which will be followed in Ibrahim Raisi’s visit to finalize it. On March 27, 2021, the $ 400 billion agreement between Iran and China was signed by the then Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and his Chinese counterpart Wang Li in Tehran. According to experts, the way for Iran’s participation in China’s ambitious infrastructure project Belt and Road Initiative will be clear.
China is Iran’s biggest business partner
According to the official news agency IRNA, China remains Iran’s largest business partner in the areas of energy, transit, agriculture, business, and investment trade and investment. The Foreign Ministers of both the countries during their phone conversation on Friday (February 10) emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the economic field. Apart from bilateral relations, regional issues including Ukraine war, Afghanistan and regional security are also likely to be discussed between the two sides. India also needs to pay attention to this, because India’s relations with China are not normal.
