Addressing an election rally on Tuesday, Pradyot Debbarma said, “I will leave politics after these assembly elections. This is my last speech on political platform and after this election I will never ask for votes as Bubagara (King). About Pradyod Debbarma
Pradyod Debbarma was born on 4 July 1978 in the royal family of Tripura. His father’s name is Kirit Bikram Kishore Debbarma and his mother’s name is Bibhu Kumari Devi. Pradyot spent his childhood in the palaces of Shillong, Meghalaya and Tripura. His education was done in Shillong only. If we talk about his political journey, then he started it with the Congress party. Both his mother and father have been MPs from the Congress. After the assembly elections held in the year 2018, the Congress had handed over the command of Tripura to him and he could not stay on this post for long as he resigned from the post due to the issue of NRC.
Tripura’s Strength Pradyot
Pradyot Debbarma’s party Tipra Motha has emerged as a major regional political force in Tripura. His party directly challenged the BJP and IPFT alliance in the Zilla Parishad elections in the Tripura tribal region held in April 2021 and won 18 out of 28 seats. Pradyot has good penetration among the tribal community. The reason behind this is also that they are demanding to make Tipraland a separate state for the tribal community.
